How to Write a Coaching Offer Clients Actually Understand

September 21, 2026

Most coaches do not lose clients because their coaching is weak. They lose them because the offer is hard to repeat. If a prospect cannot explain what you do to a colleague in one sentence, they rarely move forward.

Start with the problem, not your method

Clients buy a change they already want. Begin with the situation they are stuck in, described in their words. « I need better ways to find clients » is clearer than « holistic business alignment. »

Answer five questions in plain language

Write the one-sentence version

Use this shape: « I help [who] with [problem] so they can [outcome], through [format]. » Read it aloud. If it sounds like a slogan, rewrite it until it sounds like something you would say to a friend.

Test it before you publish it

Say the sentence in your next three conversations. Notice where people ask for clarification. Every follow-up question shows a gap in the offer, and closing that gap is worth more than a new logo or a longer sales page.

Keep it small

A clear offer is usually narrower than you expect. You can widen it later. Start with one group, one problem, and one way of working, and let real conversations tell you what to add.
